Why Maimeri and not the brands on the printed colour list. Holbein oils cannot be bought in Italy. Holbein's own Italian distributor carries a single 40-colour oil line, and every colour in it was out of stock on 3 September; the other Italian shops sell Holbein watercolour and gouache only. Maimeri is made in Italy, comes in the 200 ml tube the group needs, and is stocked now.
These are matches by colour, not identical products. Each Maimeri colour above sits in the same place on the palette as the one Lo teaches with. Lo confirms the list before the order goes in.
Order early. Most colours show one or two tubes in stock and several ship in 7–14 days.
Ten colours with no Italian equivalent — five of them the Holbein grey series, which no European maker reproduces. They are glazing colours, used in thin transparent layers, so they last. Nothing here needs to be bought, shipped or carried by anyone else.
